Construction fence
Commisioned by Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen
Made in a design team at thonik
The Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, by architects MVRDV, is the first art depot in the world that is completely accessible to the public.
During the build however, the site still had to be fenced off. The eyes in the fence invite visitors passing by to take a peek at the progress of the build. At the same time, the eyes look out into the city.
In this design, the iconic straight lines from the museum’s visual identity ware interpreted in a new way. When moving along the fence, the wavy lines seemed to almost come alive by the visitors’ own movement.
